Gananoque & District Humane Society
Our all-volunteer Shelter rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes hundreds of dogs, cats and other domestic pets annually. We have never put down a healthy, adoptable pet just to make space for another. We do not use professional fundraisers and raise all our own money from donations, adoption fees and fundraising events along with support from our local municipalities when available.

As an independent No-Kill shelter, LAWS does not euthanize for population control, age, breed or after a set amount of time has passed. Euthanasia is reserved only for those cases where an animal is ill or aggressive to the point that quality of life is impacted. All animals in the shelter’s care will be cared for until a suitable home, permanent or foster, is found. LAWS provides food, shelter, veterinary care and love from our dedicated staff and volunteers. We also try to work with other rescues to optimize the adoption of our animals.

Through its province-wide network of 50 plus Communities, the Ontario SPCA is one of the largest, most responsive animal welfare organizations in the country. Providing care and shelter for tens of thousands of animals every year.
The Ontario SPCA is unique amongst animal welfare organizations in Ontario: the Ontario SPCA Act mandates the Society to enforce animal cruelty laws and provides Society Branch and Affiliate investigators with police powers to do so.
If it’s time for a new pet in your life, you will surely find your perfect companion at an Ontario SPCA adoption centre. There are so many wonderful pets at the adoption centres throughout the province. Cats and dogs of all ages, shapes, sizes and breeds, as well as birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and more!
